South Lakeland car parking machines will no longer need registration numbers

DRIVERS will no longer have to key in their car registration numbers into new South Lakeland District Council parking machines come the new year.

The pay and display machines have been controversial since they were introduced at 38 car parks in the area earlier this year at a cost of £340,000.

There was an outcry from residents, visitors and traders because motorists were forced to enter their registration details to get a ticket.

These photos show how a traffic warden in a £4.40-an-hour zone was allegedly caught threatening to hand out a parking ticket - but then backed down after being handed a £20 bribe by a driver.

A journalist was parked without a ticket on a street in London’s Mayfair when a civil enforcement officer (CEO) wearing a Westminster City Council jacket approached and threatened to fine him.

But the traffic warden, employed by the UK’s biggest parking contractor NSL, allegedly said he could ‘sort something out’ if he was paid - and would stop any local wardens putting a ticket on the car.

Good Samaritan gets parking ticket for helping disabled man

THIS is the moment a Poole man was slapped with a £75 fine as he helped an elderly disabled gent on his mobility scooter.

His kind actions were snapped by a Borough of Poole camera car, but despite them clearly showing him struggling to help a man in trouble – the fine was issued and the council refused to budge.

The official offered our man free rein to park all day in a costly

Roadchef cooks up £90 parking fine

I recently parked at a Roadchef services on the M1 for three hours without realising there was a fee if you park for longer than two. As a result, I have received a "charge notice" from a company called CP Plus which, I believe, manages the parking, demanding £90, reduced to £50 if I pay within 14 days. I checked the Roadchef website which confirmed there is a charge and a "penalty" if you stay beyond two hours.

One in six parking tickets issued by Swindon Council is revoked

ONE in six parking tickets have wrongly been handed out to drivers since 2011.

Drivers have successfully appealed 6,447 tickets that have been slapped on their cars since the start of 2011, figures obtained under the Freedom Of Information Act have shown.

Out of 43,293 tickets issued by Swindon Council, 15 per cent of them were queried by motorists and revoked for reasons such as a having a parking ticket or Blue Badges that might not have been visible when the car was booked.

Plymouth man given parking fine 'for an act of courtesy'

A MOTORIST claims he was unfairly ticketed by the Plymouth camera car for an "act of courtesy".

David Bailey said he was caught on camera when he pulled into a bus bay to let traffic pass. He said he was "horrified and angry" to receive a fixed penalty for stopping at a bus stop in Hyde Park Road.

Conmen behind a parking ticket phishing expedition

Motorist Peter Whalley of Manchester was rightly suspicious of the email supposedly demanding payment for a parking fine.

The street where the alleged offence took place was in Haringey, North London. Peter says: "I have never been to London in my 74 years, the farthest I drive is Oldham."
